Designed for use with cameras with a resolution of over 50 megapixels, and offering top optical performance throughout the zoom range, the 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art incorporates three FLD glass elements, three SLD elements, and three aspherical lens elements, including a wide-diameter aspherical element. The effective distribution of these glass elements with a high refractive index improves the corrective effect of the FLD and SLD glasses. This optical system minimizes transverse chromatic aberration and other optical aberrations, resulting in high-definition images with formidable quality.

The first element in the optical system is a wide-diameter aspherical lens. Optimizing the energy distribution of this and the other elements minimizes distortion to 1% or less (at infinity focus). As a result, the points of light appear as dots and do not interfere with the center and edges of the image. The volume of light is equally abundant throughout the frame. Along with this, the simulations carried out from the design stage onwards helped to minimize the effects of ??flare?? and ??ghosting??. In combination, these technologies ensure excellent ultra-wide-angle performance.
